Main Gear melting????

I just put my heli back together and after a few minutes of flight, my main gear melted on me! Anyone know what would do that? My collar seems to be tight, no up and down play on the main shaft. Can you put them in upside down??

Glad you found what caused it. I'm paranoid about those kinds of things so that's one of items in my pre-flight of the day checklist.

Yeah, I had no reason to think of it being loose, so I never checked it, that was my first mistake! Those little things can spell big trouble. Boy, we live and learn!

Yeah its a good idea to start getting into the habit of checking everything. I had my collar loosen up on me once and it shook the heli so hard that it bent the main shaft.
