The main gear is designed to go on either way. Just doesn't always match the pic in the manual. I have never heard if anyone having a bent starter shaft out of the box. That one is a fluke?
I did alert Matt.
Cheers,
Alan
it was the hub i flipped, i know the main can go either way, it worked with the hub flip. I guess the dimensions are the same right side up or upside down, so I guess it doesn't matter. I know pictures dont always match. thats why they make addendum's. once again, no biggie. start shaft.. I know, very rare, I have never had one bent on any of my choppers. Theres always the possibility I did it. with the bottom of the start shaft hollow, i could see how easily it could become damaged if you dont put engine in right. I mean it could of been my fault. but i dont think i did anything to bend it.. However, water under the bridge.. fixed now. Oh yeah, i also took the motor shims out, makes the alignment way better..
