Bearing Grease

Does anyone know what kind of grease is in the radial/flange bearings?  Does anyone ever grease their bearings on a new kit? I know this is probably overkill, but I was thinking of putting BotoLube in all my bearings when I get my E5 kit and was just wondering if botolube is compatible with the grease that comes in the bearings.

My bearings were dry other than a little residual oil from machining.  I always clean all metal parts, screw, thrust bearings, anything NOT sealed like the main bearings, in rubbing alcohol. This will clean the machining oil off and allow the grease and loctite to do it's job.

I used BotoLube on my thrust bearings. Works great!

I used Lubriplate EMB (Electric Motor Bearing) Polymer grease on all of my bearings except the thrust bearings.  They are easily greased using the bearing greaser (Precision RC) which allows bearings to be properly lubricated without removing the shields.  Both the greaser and the grease are available from Ronlund.com.  I use Boto lube on all thrust bearings.

Boto lube will be fine in thrust bearings , but not for radial or bearings with a spinning shaft. The grease is to thick. I use Mobil 1 SCH220. It I made for high speed and high temp applications. It is designed to be used in bearings that make envelopes where there is dirt and other stuff from folding and cutting.

I grease all my main shaft and start shaft bearings on my N5C and E7. The grease that comes in the bearings is not up to the standard that we are using them for. I use the bearing greaser and it will push most of the old grease out while putting the new grease in.

I use regular automotive bearing grease in my Greaser to re-packs radial bearings and thrust bearings. Works great and one cartridge will last forever. On the Synergy, I re-pack only every 400-500 flights. New radials, I use as is.

Concerning the Lubriplate EMB Polymer grease, is that grease safe with plastic?

It is not intended to be used on plastic but appears to be plastic safe (See specs in follow on post). If you are looking for plastic gear grease.  I use Moly Kote on the gears you can find it here:

I am not referring to greasing the plastic gears.  I am more concerned about using the petroleum-based Lubriplate EMB Polymer grease on the TT metal bearings (108-814) that are housed within the plastic TT Bearing Housing (320-503).  Is it safe to use the Lubriplate EMB Polymer grease in those bearings?

Oh.  That's a "game changer" for me.  That's the grease that I have in my Greaser, but I was not sure if it was safe on plastic.  Ron did not know the answer either when I asked him about a year ago.  Thanks so much for that link with the grease specs.
