My E7 setup for F3C
« on: March 19, 2013, 07:22:58 AM »
Hi all,

I fly F3C here in Australia and I am in the Advanced class. Since almost everyone is flying electric now, I decided to setup my E7 for F3C. So I decided to use a N5 flybar head to keep it a true Synergy machine. I decided to cut the E7 mainshaft and re-drill the hole to allow me to swap between FBL and flybar without any linkage adjustment. I also had to drill out the N5 blade grips to run the 5mm blade bolts. I also got some 4mm bearings so I could run a 4mm flybar rod. I turned all the gains in the FBL gyro to 0. Phase equaliser and rotation equaliser have been turned off

The setup is the following;

Scorpion HKIII 4035-450 with 14T pinion. Hover at 1560rpm/IU 1 1800rpm/IU 2 1900rpm
CC 160HV Ice 2
Revolectrix 12S 60C Diamond 5000mAh
Funtech F3C paddles
Funtech 720H F3C Mains
Rail 116 tails
CGY750 v1.31 with Hobby Wing phase sensor
Futaba BLS156HV cyclic
Futaba BLS256HV tail
Thunder Power 1900mAh 2S Rx LiPo

It purrs like a kitten in the hover and is super stable in the wind. It tracks and holds a great line in the aero's. It auto's beautifully and holds headspeed very nicely.

A big thanks to Jeff Bradley (Your Hobby) who helped me out with alot of parts. ArkRC were great and supplied some bits too.

Please see the pics below. Any questions just ask.

Very nice work there!
It's cool that you were able to set it up to switch between Flybar and FBL with relative ease.
I haven't kept up witht the regs.  Do some classes of FAI and F3C allow FBL? Maybe one day we won't need flybars for any FAI/F3C;D

Cheers
Alan

Thanks for the comments guys.

Alan in Australia you can fly FBL in Novice and Advanced. F3C you cannot use a 3 axis gyro or FBL. I believe maybe next year that could change.

I really wanted to use the CGY750 since it has electric governor now. I turned my Main, I and D gains to zero and put it in normal mode. Rotation and phase equalizer etc are all turned off.

It is fast too. I got it clocked two weekends ago at 162km/h which is bang on 100mph.

I am flying this machine at the Australian National championships at the start of May. I have been flying a lot to get as much practice in.

I will try and get a video up as soon as I can.

The E7 is a really versatile machine as others have flown it at very low headspeeds. The flybar setup again shows it can do another style of flying.
