Hi,

I've always used grease on the one way bearing in the auto hub but I was reading the E5 manual and the autohub unit looks the same as the N5C. In the E5 manual it clearly states not to use grease and to use a light oil. What have other people used? Also it says to use red or green loctite to secure the bronze bushing - have other people done this?

Cheers,

Ali

Hi Ali,

The reason for the use of oil is that some greases will be too think and inhibit the bearings ability to function correctly, with a light oil such as Tri-Flow it keeps the bearing lubricated and allows the roller and needle mechanisms withing the bearing to function as they should.

With regards to the bronze bushings, it is best to follow the recommendation in the manual and use a red or high strength loctite to secure the bushings. I always do this and it is best to clean the surfaces of the bushings and also the recess in the housing to make for a good bonding surface.

Hope this helps, and any questions give me a shout.
Cheers,

I wish I hadn't put boto lube in the one way bearing all ready. Do you think I should try and clear it out as much as possible and then apply some Tri-flow?  If so, how is the best way to remove the grease?
