Cherry Tech Tip: Removing TT gears

Thought I'd share a quick tip for those that haven't seen this yet. Removing the delrin TT mushroom gears is can be  difficult at times because of really tight tolerances. If you freeze the components for 10 minutes, the gears will fall right out! Delrin shrinks much more than steel when frozen.

When I need to replace my front mushroom gear I'll put the new gear and transmission in the freezer. Wait 10 minutes, old gear slides right out, new one slides right back in. Done!  Same goes for the tail box.

Thanks Rob.  I have been heating the metal parts with the same results but I would much rather touch a cold part/assembly than a hot one

You know when I was putting the E7 transmission together a couple weeks back I was stumped for a bit ..how the heck was I going to do this short of murdering it with a hammer! LOL.  And I thought well...we'll try the freezer trick and literally Rob is right it just fell out! Put the new one in (after freezing) no issues.  In fact it was better than when I got the upgrade kit the first go around.  I was experiencing some notchiness the first time due to excessive tight mesh. I realize now that I should have worked with that bevel gear a bit more cause its as smooth as butter now!
