E7se canopy mod
« on: September 13, 2013, 12:22:56 AM »
Hi Guys

thought this might help anyone that is struggling with mounting the canopy on the new E7se

I've been having issues getting the canopy on and off with the new mounts especially when i have a 12s stickpack in there,

I had a look at the points that were restricting access, then reshaped the bottom of the canopy(with a dremmel) where it was catching on the corners of the frame , this allows the canopy to come up higher when using the new mounts

I  went one further and grabbed an old set of E7 canopy mounts ,some longer grub screws and made up some 5mm spacers to get the old mounts out far enough for the canopy to be well clear of the main gear.,

I also use 5min apoxy on the inside of  my canopy grommets , they last much longer

with the new mounts at the rear and the old E7 mounts at the front it is now the easiest canopy to get on and off out of all the heli's i've owned :)

Thanks guys

went for a fly again yesterday and it really was a pleasure changing packs, just giving it that little bit of extra clearance underneath has made it a lot easier,
I also found that now the canopy is not in contact with the frame ,its a lot quieter , there was a far bit of resonation with the canopy touching the frame.

Cheers
Andrew

What a great idea! I initially glued some N5c fuel tank rubber to the frame on my E7 after I noticed some chipping to deal with that but it is still a hassle, almost worse with the rubber creating less clearance there...I will be trimming mine this week, that is for sure! BTW very nice work on your canopy! :)

I trimmed my canopy last night and I could not believe how much easier it was to install it! I thought I was just not holding my mouth right, sometimes it seemed like it would just slip on and other times it fought me tooth & nail...This is a great fix! Thanks again!

Thank you :)

glad you did the mod ,makes a huge difference , you will also notice how much quieter the Heli is as the canopy is now completely dampened from the frame

Thanks for the canopy mod tips Fasster!!

It took me 5 minutes to get my canopy on before doing this mod, and now I can get it on and off with ease!
I'm now going to look into changing the front canopy mounts
Cheers.

I saw this a while back and didn't do it.  So today I am looking at two of my canopies and noticed the cracks and chips in that area.  popped out the dremel and went to town, and it does definitely help out!
