Installing the Tank - 3 Quick Questions
« on: December 06, 2013, 01:47:25 PM »
Do  you CA  the tank edge grommet  to the frames?

Is there a trick  to  fitting the tank between the side  frames other than just  brute force?

If  yes, what is it?

Hello!

I did put a little CA on the corners of the tank grommets just to help hold them in place.

As for the tank, I put mine in as I was combining the two frame sides. You can collapse the tank with your fingers and get it in and our without separation the frames. CAing the grommets in a bit helps here. I wouldn't CA them all the way around, you may need to change them some day :)

I don't use CA or glue of any kind on the tank grommet.  They will stay in place without that.  I would prefer to not have to clean off glue or CA from an airframe at a later date.
I do suggest warming the rubber before installing.  Getting it seated well on the frame makes a difference and heating them a bit helps with that.

Cheers

No glue here either.  Just make sure you don't cut the grommet too short.  If it's the right length it will stay in place just fine.  Push down on the top of the tank to get it in the frames.

I have used silicone spray lube.  Used some last night on the N7 to help a bit.  Not sure if the collecting dirt is a valid argument.   We are talking about a Nitro Helicopter correct....
I have never seen one that actually flew that didn't collect a little dirt... ;D
