Tip for slick tail pitch travel
« on: March 09, 2014, 04:16:40 PM »
Put the tail together on mine, always ensure that the pitch bearing with crank connected falls under its own weight.
Mine was a little bit stiff and always polish the shaft with 800 grade wet and dry.
So put a 6mm drill bit in my electric drill, and pushed the brass bush on but all the way up and away from the cutting edges So it was on the smooth part of the drill below the jaws, and polish for a few seconds, applying slight off axis pressure. I could see a brassy colour develop on the drill. Afterwards it was perfectly smooth on the shaft and indeed fell under its own weight.

While on the subject of the tail, ref the short control rod, couldn't understand the rational of that heavy pushrod inside a CF tube, full length. So epoxied some 2.5mm threaded stud into the ends, about 30mm inside and 12mm sticking out. This is how the Logo and TDR full size tail pushrods are made up. Much lighter and certainly strong enough.
