Landing Skid Tip
« on: April 14, 2014, 04:00:05 PM »
If this has been posted before I apologize.
I was trying to get the sleeve lined up at the hole for the screw that secures the strut to the skid and thought I was gonna pull my hair out. So, I cut the head off a 3mm screw, then heated up an old  piece of a nyrod I had lying around and inserted the screw into the nyrod, leaving the threads exposed. I then screw the coupler to the screw and insert it into the back of the skid. I am then able to line things up, when the strut screw is tightened up, I can unscrew the nyrod/screw tool and move to the next hole. Takes No time to assemble the Landing Gear Assembly.
I have built a lot of Helicopters and my Synergy is one of the nicest kits I have assembled.

I use the tail control rod to do the same thing.  I can put the piece on the rod and slide it in the skid, line it up and get the bolt started.

Most of us Synergy veterans use an old flybar from the N5.

+1 for Darren, I use an old N5 Flybar with notches measuring the different depth settings for the  TT carrier bearings, and I know someone will ask me why I don't CA mine in place,  ;)I run (4) TT carrier bearings in all my birds, Overkill but Makes for a happy, happy Tail and the fact that full scale Helis run multiple bearings based on Model/Manufacture  as well..
