Missing hole in rear frame

Noticed while sanding that one of my rear frame sides has a partially completed transmission hole. Is it safe to use a standard metric drill bit and complete the hole? If not, what is the best procedure?

Never mind, a little twisting with a 3mm bit (by hand) popped the left over material right out.
