N7 Headspeed Target

I am getting ready to fire up the Gov in my Sk720be. I am thinking a good starting starting point for a nice docile normal mode for hovering and TO/Landing would be 1800.  Idle up 1 maybe 1900 for a starting point.  I am running the stock gearing with this motor 91HZ-R with 61G Carb and Rail 696 mains and Spin Blades Red Tip 105mm tail.  Fuel is 30% CoolPower.

These look like good numbers to start from for a Sport Flyer that basically just cruises around the sky with an occasional loop, roll, Cuban Eight?

Well we tried the gov today with mixed results.  The 1900 IU1 speed worked well.  The 1750 for normal did not work as I expected it to.  The Heli got light and lifted off before the gov engaged in normal mode.  The next start did not happen right away because the nut holding the fan to the motor came loose.  We dropped the motor out and did a field fix and tried the gov again with the same results.  The gov did switch to 1750 on the landing when we switched to normal mode. I am running a Skookum 720be and I need to do some more research on it.

Well, my quest to get the Skookum gov working is now successful.  Turns out that the IU1 setting was NOT working correctly.  I had a misunderstanding of the the setup instructions and entered the values for the throttle curves into the radio.  In reality what I needed to do was enter values in the throttle curves that when processed by the unit gave me 40% and 60% in the throttle window in the "Drive System" tab in the setup software.

You probably found this out now but you can check that it's working correctly by switching between flight modes with your transmitter while you're looking at the drive tab. Each rpm value should turn green when you select its corresponding flight mode.

yeah, it was doing that when I had the wrong values plugged in.  When I went to fly it was just lumbering into the air in normal mode.  Flew nice in IU but at the wrong HS.  A little bit lower HS than what it should have been.  Looks like it is going to be fine now.  Weather permitting I plan on flying tomorrow afternoon.
