A couple of setup questions for my next E5...
« on: June 20, 2014, 03:54:49 PM »
First... I really love my E5 in 6S setup.

1. Is anyone flying the E5 in 10S?

2. Is anyone flying 10S or 12S in a non-stretched 550 setup?

Since Miniature Aircraft has closed its door, I'm considering moving my 10S setup off of my Furion 6 a second E5 (maybe E5S)

Thanks

My first E5 setup (not stretch) was a 10s only because I had the motor and batts. Also used to own a couple of Furions. 10s worked fine. The batts were actually on their last legs so I went to a 6s setup. Flew fine on 10s 2850 packs.

Cheers.

I am flying a non-stretched E5 on a 12S setup (two 2600s) and love it, never tried 6S as I had a 12S motor...

Hi Alan, I remember you saying you had Furions before. What moter were you using on the E5 in 10S? A 560?

What flight times did you get?  I have 3300's for my 500pro so I would love avoid buying separate packs for the E5 I am getting.

I am flying both my E5 models with 556mm Rail Blades on 12S.

I believe that both Rob Cherry and Chris Sexton also run this same configuration. It's a BEAST in this setup.

I believe we're all running 2600-2700mah 6S packs, 90A HV speed controllers, and 4025-560(ish) motors.

I'm getting about 4:30 of flight time at about 2450rpm

I fly my 12S E5 with 556 at 2450 rpm.  I've used anywhere from 2200 12S up to 4400 12S.  The sweet spot is around 3000-3200.  With a little more weight it performs really well and still retains a ton of pop. Even with the 700-sized 4400s it flew amazingly well, just a little mushy on quick collective inputs.   Recently, I prefer the 3200's as they give the best performance overall and can fly for about 4:00 on the timer.

Rob,
Out of curiosity what 3000-3200 packs are you using?

I running my E5 with 556mm mains  12s.  Pulse 2650 ultra ; HKIII 4025-550 ; Head speed 2400 ; 12.5 +/- pitch ; CC120HV.  Have about 65 flights on it now and its really nice.  I can't bog it down.  Loops rolls, inverted circuits no hard 3d but getting 6 min. flight times @ 70-75% battery use. Not a ton of experience but I like the 12s set up and have an easy system for battery change outs. Two batteries aren't that bad mess with.  Really well built machine
