Scorpion HKIII-4035-560
« on: November 08, 2011, 05:50:11 PM »
Is the Scorpion HKIII-4035-560 too high of a kv for the E7? Thats what the guy at the hobby shop sold me for my E7 that is on order.
I have a castle hv-120 and am planning on a 12s setup at 1950-2000 headspeed to start.
The castle software says its in range I am just worried that the kv is too high to run efficiently with a 14 tooth pinion. Should I go for the 450kv or 500kv instead?

Thanks,
Rocky

I ran a 4035-560kv on my 600 size heli on 10s. On my E7, I am running a 450kv. Most other people are running a 470kv. If I were you I would use a 450 or 500kv.

Also, did you read the posts before ordering your motor? Make sure you purchased a long shaft version to fit into the lower bearing block support.

Best,
-Steve

I think 560 is too fast a motor for the E7 even using 12 tooth pinion. I think max 500kv. In addition to long shaft make sure the motor mount is 30mm, 25mm will NOT fit.

Here is a link to the dimensions.

http://www.scorpionsystem.com/files/i1,790_full_dimension.pdf

It has 25mm and 30mm spacing.
Looks like I may have to return it and order the hacker 470 kv or the scorpion 450 kv. I think it was all they had in stock. The hobby shop guy acted like it would be fine.
I am still learning and years from hard 3d style flight so I dont really care about getting the most performance.
I just need something to get it in the air and be easy on the batteries while I learn.

Thanks,
Rocky

The 560 will be fine and is the most powerful in the 4035 HKIII range you would just need to use a 12T pinion is my guess.
