Hi Jay,

Is it possible to get a photo of the installation? particularly of the front transmission assembly.

It might be worth checking to see whether the spur gear bearing block is orientated the correctly. The spur gear bearing block should have a flat edge and a recessed edge, the recessed edge should be facing toward the front of the helicopter. If the flat edge is facing the front of the helicopter this will be causing the tightness your seeing.

Hope this helps,
Ross

I posted in another thread somewhere about this same issue....

first, count the teeth on the spur gear to ensure it is the correct spur gear for the ratio that you are trying to get there have been some miss labeled.

I have only had 1 synergy model of mine that the mesh was perfect on the large to small spur gear transfer. I have had to use a small jewelers file to open the transmission holes up a tad on the rest. it doesn't take much, only about 4-5 passes back and forth with the file, so don't take too much off!!! its easy to do!!! also, be very sure to keep in a straight line, and don't get your holes off true.

Ross and Mike,

Thanks for your replies. I have checked and the front transmission assembly is installed with the correct orientation. The mesh is too tight but just to the point to where it is notchy feeling and noisy. It won't take much adjustment to correct it. I am going to try an old trick from the N9 days of using paper inserted into the mesh of the gears and then tightening all the bolts to see if this helps any before I resort to any type of filing. If I can get a minute amount of adjustment from it I feel like it will at least be good enough for me to just try running it in a bit to see if that settles it down some. I really don't want to file on the gear if I don't have to.

Thanks for the input guys! I installed the CGY750, Receiver and push-glo last night and routed my wiring. I am hoping to fire up the electronics this evening or tomorrow to begin the set-up process.  :D :D :D

no no no, you don't file the gear....you file the holes in the frames where the transmission bolts into it. you just take 4-5 swipes applying pressure to the rear of the heli in all of the holes that the transmission standoffs bolt to.....not the gear.

you effectively slide the transmission toward the rear of the heli just a few 0.001"

When I read that the first time I thought, boy that doesn't sound like it'll turn out very well. That's why I didn't want to go there. Anyway, glad to have that as a viable solution now! I am still going to try the paper trick first just to make certain before I take any material off the frames. It is sooooo close I believe it may just work.

OK fellas, the paper trick worked Puuuuurfectly! My gears are all as smooth as butta! I used one of my business cards, cut it lengthwise to about 1/4 inch wide strip. I inserted that between the spur gears while the forward transmission assembly was loosened up and the tail boom was also loosened up. Took a little force to turn the gear so the card stock would be fed into the mesh. Once it was in about half way, I tightened everything up, rolled the card stock out the other side and bing bang loo!!! It's perfect now.

Thanks for all of your input!

good deal! glad you got it sorted. do be sure to check the mesh again after the first flight, and then a few more, just to ensure it stays that good. it really doesn't take much!
