Spartan Vortex VX1e
« on: August 31, 2014, 07:04:51 PM »
I installed a Spartan Vortex VX1e on my E7 this weekend.  I had a bit of a rocky start with it.  I went through the initial setup and then between that time and when I maidened it, I did something that reset the sensor mounting orientation setting I had picked.  As soon as the skids left the ground it rolled really hard to the left and destroyed my Rail 716s.  :'(

I went back through the setup thoroughly and did a much more thorough pre-flight for the second maiden.  I have 7 flights on it so far and I'm really liking what I'm seeing, so far.  This thing is freaking tiny!

The first positive thing that I noticed was that the head bobble that I was getting at around 1650 rpm is completely gone.  I tried everything to get rid of it, before, but even with Ralph's progressive dampers I couldn't get rid of it with the SK540.

Hopefully they'll get the e-governor update out before long but I'm pretty happy considering it was only $150.

Aside from your initial hiccup it's good to hear it's flying well with the VX1e. I'll be strapping one onto my E7se this week and seeing how it goes. I run the internal gov on the Kosmik, so the e-gov isn't a priority of mine.

I am doing the same myself, i've been a big fan of the Futaba CGY750 and love the way it feels and flies but i've been tempted to try a Spartan Vortex VX1 for a while so i purchased the VX1e and will be fitting it shortly.

Great to see your enjoying it, i have yet to see a report of anyone not liking it on the latest V3 firmware.

Looking forward to giving this ago myself.
Cheers,
Ross
