E5 Washout Arm - Ball Link Length
« on: September 01, 2014, 12:04:46 PM »
What is the length in millimeters for the ball link connected to the Washout control arm in the Swash Follower arm ?

Can I put equal measures in both sides or should I leveling the arm parallel to the swash on zero pitch ?

According to the E5 Manual - Pag 46 - The parts involved are :

107-100 : Ball Link
100-272 : M2.5x12 set screw
305-207 : E5 Ball Link Adapter

There should be no gap, meaning you shouldn't be able to see the 100-272 setscrew at all.  I went and looked at my E5 and my E7SE, and both are the same.  The arm is just a follower.  It doesn't matter what it's at while at zero pitch.  I think it just keeps the top of the swash rotating so the links that go to the blade grips are where they need to be.

Hi,

The parts you listed are all that is required to build up the ball link adapter. Make sure you removed the m2.5x12 set screw from the ball link adapter before adjusting the M3x16 socket head bolt that secures the ball link adapter to the washout control arm as it can damage the bolt threads.

When you are assembling the ball link adapter all you need to do is install the set screw in the ball link adapter and then screw on the plastic ball link fully so it seats fully into the recess of the ball link adapter. The ball link can be adjusted so that it fits perfectly onto the ball.

Hope this helps,
Ross
