N5C with CGY750 governor sensor problem
« on: November 06, 2011, 11:01:28 PM »
Hi all,
Doing my final setup on the GY750. In the governor menu (page 77 in the manual) I can't get the sensor to read the 60% value that the menu talks about. The value doesn't seen to change when I move the sensor. When I rotate the fan and one of the magnets is over the sensor the value changes to 0. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for the help.

One of your magnets is backwards. It should have a solid reading of 97%.

Thanks,
Chris

I thought that was the whole idea? One mounted correct and the opposing one is to be reversed. When I rotate the fan only one magnet triggers the sensor. Seems right to me.

That is right but how did you install them did they get mixed up when putting them in?  Best way to do this is to connect the magnets together then take a marker to both ends then install them with the marks facing up.

Thanks for the reply guys. Just to clarify when I rotate the clutch bell when one of the magnets is over the sensor I get a low number reading on the 750. When I continue to rotate the clutch and the other magnet is over the sensor I get no reading. Doesn't that indicate I have the magnets installed correctly? Maybe the wiring on the connector end of the sensor is wrong? Pulling my hair out.

I have also found the sensor had to be closer to get a good reading. Mine is showing 96% when I spin the clutch bell. Also my sensor isn't quite on centre and it is slightly further out.

Problem solved. Thanks guys. I bailed on the TJ sensor and installed the Futaba sensor that came with my 750. Works great. I get readings of 96% on the 750 sense menu. Now if I can only get my 750 to display the same RPM in the governor basic menu as my 12FG governor menu.  :( O well. One thing at a time.
