Most of you don't know me, or the story of my now 3 year old son, but we had what I can only call a "God" moment tonight and I just had to share. I am sure I am posting this in the wrong place and the Mods will move it, I understand.
My son was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of 8 months. He began having uncontrollable seizures and literally stopped developing mentally at about 4 months old. I can't count the times I was told my son would never be able to take care of himself, most doctors said he would be vegatagive and wheel chair bound forever.
Fast forward to October 2011. Ethan had another round of set backs and the school he was attending told us since he was never going to walk, we had to replace his temporary wheel chair with a permanent chair that would allow him to be strapped into it while riding on the bus or he would not be able to continue attending school and receiving his therapies. In a mad dash to raise the money for his chair, I sold off all my helicopter fleet, 7 in total including at the time a brand new Synergy E7 that i had pre-ordered after seeing one at IRCHA. I had only flown it twice. Anyone with kids will understand, you always take care of your kids.
Well through the help and support of fellow freaks my mad dash to raise funds was successful and my son got his new chair in time to continue school and not miss any of the therepies he needed so much.
Today my son, after 3 years of being told he can't, after 3 years of fighting against everything modern medicine told us he could do, today my son stood up on his own and walked. I don't mean a couple of stumbly steps, he pulled himself up on the arm of the couch and took off. He hasn't stopped since.
So to all of you who have helped my family when we needed it, and to those who have helped me rebuild, I give you this.
Ethan can walk! And yes, that is me squealing like a baby with joy.
