cyclic rod lengths
« on: November 11, 2014, 03:21:54 PM »
Hello All,
I'm setting the cyclic rods up (3) of the at 19.3 mm as shown in the manual. The problem is the shaft portion of the link is longer than 19.3mm and a the link thread almost bottoms out on the ball link. The kit has (5) of these rods all the same length. If you look at FBL you will see they use (3) shorter and (2) longer links. Are you guys just running the ball link down all the way to make the smaller links. The problem is the link shaft has a larger OD the threaded portion which can cause the plastic ball link  to strip if driven too far.

Hello Zinger!

Yes you do need to run the links down pretty far, but I have never had any issues with stripping or breaking of the links. They are very strong.

It can be done, my point is Synergy should make (3) shorter link rods for this kit this way you don't have to drive that longer rod all the way down into the ball link.  Thanks for the quick response.

The Synergy plastic links 107-100 are approximately 21.8mm long and the inner hole can accommodate up to 13mm of rod link thread.  With 19.3mm of exposed rod, that leaves 11.85mm rod [(43-19.3)/2] on either end of the rod to thread onto the plastic link.  That been said, I purchased the slightly shorter Lunsford Titanium Turnbuckles 1165 (38.1mm) for the cyclics.  However, since they are M3 size, I had to drill the plastic link holes a bit larger.

For the blade grips, I purchased the slightly longer Lunsford 1168 turnbuckles.

If you don't like those links or want a little more accuracy FblRotors.com has Turnbuckles for all synergy's helis they are really nice.
