Rear plate above tail boom
« on: April 17, 2015, 01:06:41 PM »
Can a gyro/receiver be mounted on the rear plate on the N7? With the new Vbar Neo coming out the unit has to mounted flat even when using an external sensor. In the event the external sensor malfunctions it fails over to the internal sensor and the bailout function always uses the internal sensors. So, I was wondering if I could mount a Gyro/Receiver on that rear plate?

Sure can. In front in back any flat surface on the any Synergy can accommodate your FBL gyro.

It just seems it wasn't designed for that by looking that cut outs on it and the spacing between support would have more vibes than the front mount. Anyone have their Gyro mounted there?

Nope, no vibes. You will be good to mount any gyro on that plate if so desired. The 2mm cf only spans a short distance. Go for it!  :)

The only down side to mounting anything back there is it will be exposed to the nitro smoke. Tucking everything under the canopy helps keep it free of oil and the center of gravity correct.

I am with Ben on the nitro residue at the back.

If it were me trying the Neo, an option would be to use another Gyro mount plate under the existing one. You should be able to mount it to the existing frame spacers. One on top and bottom. Part # 310-104

That way you could have the Neo on the top and the external sensor underneath.
