torque tube end problem
« on: January 01, 2015, 10:16:19 AM »
Hi all , i'm building my new N5c and i have problem installing the torque tube.  It is difficult to push the torque tube in the gear, either front or rear.

Does this situation happened to someone else?

thank you

marc

It should definitely be a tight fit. But you obviously don't want to pound them in  ;)

are you able to put a little force on them and make them slide?

you can also put a little lube on them to help

yes i tried with the lube but  its more than tight... when i push the torque tube in,  the front gear moves a bit and you ear noise.

thanks

Do you have any spare components to test fit? If you look in the gears are the corners squared off nicely?

I have had some with a tight fit, bit nothing major. Maybe another team guy has had this issue?

Is your tail boom installed all the way forward?  It should be flush with the forward mount and not against the forward gear support. You can email me your phone number to further discuss.  I can provide photo's  later tonight.

just read this post and wanted to say, This is not a bad issue at all and is easily fixed. like the guys have mentioned before, they are tight and in some cases some fit actually tighter than others.. A small jewelers file is what I use in this case and (file) the inside flats of the gear.. Do Not file the aluminum drive end.. ( if you ever replace the gear again after a crash, it may end up Too Loose.. Do this until you get a nice light dragging feel when you engage the gear onto the shaft. Also a very common issue that will arise if you force these gears on when you assemble and install the tail it will actually push the mushroom gear into the beveled gear and cause binding.. The gear mesh should be absolutley Butter Smooth when rotating it.. If this infact happens you will need to reset the gear and this can be done when everything is assembled however if you don't do it correctly and the gear is actually (to tight of a fit) on the TT, you can damage the gear itself... Hope this helps some..

thank you all for your support!
Kevin , it worked perfectly with a file inside the gear!
