Grease port

Hi

There are grease ports in the Blade grip for the thrust bearings. I wonder a bit how to use them. I have the Boto greaser. Should I just press in grease until it comes out of the opposite grease port? And how often should you do this?

exactly.

I do mine every Saturday morning. I usually put 20-25 flights a week on my heli (Monday-Friday), then another 15-20 on the weekends. so about every 35-40 flights.

Thank you Mike. Hm, I disassembled the thrustbearings of my E5 now, after 231 flights and no grease. They were just fine amasingly, so I don't think it is necessary to do this so often, but I guess it also depends on flying style and other factors too. I am just a sport flier so I do not put very heavy stress to the machine. But it is not possible to overgrease the thrustbearings as the surplus grease will come out so it may be a good idea to do it once a week.  Also my head dampers were just fine after so many flights! (I changed them anyway)

As I had to change the clutch liner and take out the engine, I took a service on my N7 that had some 100 flights on it. Instead of dissasembling the blade grips to put in new grease, I of course would try to use the grease ports. Well I have now tried to do so with the Boto-Luber, but it is impossible for me to get in enough grease so that it comes out of the other port as I was told in this tread that it should do. I tried with all my force and nearly ruined the syringe. Anyway, I guess I have got enough grease in as it is, but I have no idea of how much grease that have gone in to the ports.

I have never been able to get it out the other side either. Just a shot in each and im good to go. I dont do it much, I would say every 100 or until its crashed ::)

Thank you Dan. Then it is not me doing something wrong here. Greasing about every 100th flight seems good to me. But I guess it is not possible to overdo this so maybe a bit more often. Some here do it every week!

What do you mean by installed properly? Direction of thrust bearings? Not much to do wrong here I think

shims. and yes, the trust bearings can be installed backwards...

Just saw your response Dan, I apologize for the slow response.

i am not sure why the word "shims" is even in that post, i must have been thinking about shims at the moment. i was referring to the proper orientation of the thrust bearings. they can be installed backwards.
