Sensor Mounting

Hey guys, I have recently switched to Futaba... In doing so I'm using the Futaba backplate sensor for O.S. engines.. If fits down in the cylinder shaped cavity in the backplate of my 55HZ-R.. Silicone is recommended to mount it in this cavity... What are u guys using?... Specifically...

i tried using back plate sensors before and gotten them working really well.  But i was never comfortable with them.  I always thought that it was tough to get my backplate on becasue the ones i used they had the plastic tabs to hold them on.  When I cranked them down, the plastic tabs were strained. 

On this heli the magnet sensor is really accessible.  Why are you switching?  Does futaba not have one that can work on the magnets?

Yeah, but I'm using one to feed the gov and the other to feed the telemetry... So Ive actually got both installed.

clay, I have seen guys actually use JB Weld for this, but you have a very very hard time getting it off at all, you wont get it off in one piece.

just get you some high temp silicone like this - http://www.walmart.com/ip/Permatex-Ultra-Black-Hi-Temp-RTV-Silicone-Gasket-Maker/16777009

all of the backplate sensors I have used have also used the plastic "arms" to hold on, not glue, so I am just telling you what I would TRY if I were you.

I just used a high temp silicone RTV like Mike mentioned, when I was using that sensor, and they definitely stay put.

She's in there now.. Permatex clear rtv... Seems a clean install.. Thanks guys!

Oh, Mike... That's what I use for the pipe gasket.. Thought about using it.. Ended up with the clear stuff.

that's exactly what I use for mine as well.
