New Synergy 516 owner here!!
« on: January 06, 2019, 02:13:59 PM »
Well I pulled the trigger on a Synergy 516 yesterday. It will be here next week, it will be swinging Rail blades all around. Has extra battery trays, and includes a Scorpion KKIII 4020-1350 Kv motor. There are 3 different pinions included 18T, 17T, 16T. My question is which pinion should I use? I fly big air, mild 3D, and sport? I also have to pickup an esc what are you guys using. I have the FBL unit and servos already to install. Thanks for any information you can give me for a solid setup with a decent flight time.

Hi David,
the 516 is a fine heli, easy build and awesome to fly.

I use the standard 18T pinion, with xnova 4020-1350kv motor, hobbywing 120 platinum v4 esc and  gensace 4400 65c lipo.

With that I'm getting about 5:15 mins flight times at 2560rpm with similar flying style to yours. At 2400rpm that stretches to about 5:45 mins.

Initially found the battery wires were messing with canopy fit with battery positioned for correct COG. So I installed the optional cf boom which fixed that problem, saves 50grams and look cool.

Enjoy your 516

Wolf51,

Thank you for the information, sounds like a great setup and close to what I was planning for on flight time. I am waiting to receive my Hobbywing 100A V3 ESC. Everything else is built and setup. Hopefully I will be able to get the maiden flight completed next weekend!!  ;D
