Power of Hacker A50 470kv
« on: March 21, 2012, 03:48:40 AM »
Hi Guys,

I just bought myself an e7 and i'm trying to decide on a motor! I see alot of people are running the A50-12L 470kv, however the power rating (~4kW peak) is less than the motor i run in my Align 600Pro. For a 700 size heli I'm tempted by more powerful options like the 700mx or HK-45 series which are a similar weight to the A50-12L.

Can anyone tell me if they feel the A50 is underpowered in the e7? Am i being mislead by the manufacturer's specs? The fact that Matt runs this motor in his e7 makes me think it would be a good choice.

Thanks

Anthony

Although I am not running this motor, (already had something that was perfect!) Hacker motors have always been super underrated by as much as 50%. This I know from experience! If you watch Matt fly and knowing how hard he fly's his heli you'll see this motor doesn't lack in power.

Another great part is that it runs cool.....comparably speaking!

Thanks for the opinion Tom. I've been offered a nearly new A50-12L for £80 and want to make sure i'll be happy with its performance. Can i ask what motor was perfect for you?

I had a Scorpion HKIII 4035-450 from my Trex 800 that was laying around. Kept the start up cost down on my E7 but I'm going to try a Hacker 470kv before it's all done.

Post some pics of that bad boy when it's done.

I have a Pyro in my E7 and the Hacker in my E6, honestly I can't say that one is stronger than the other, and the Hacker is half the price of the Pyro, therefore guess which motor I'm getting in the future?

I'm using a 470 in my E6 and it's really is powerful. Very happy with the motor after reaching 200 flight mark this week. Pulls like a freight train and runs cool.

Well it turns out the e7 i bought used has a 710MX 510KV motor in it already. Would you guys recommend i swap it for the A50-12L hacker that i also bought?

The 710MX has not been flown so i don't want to try it and then have to sell it at a discount. I'm leaning towards the Hacker because of your recommendations but the 710MX has good reviews too.

That is exactly what i will do. I'm going to run the A50-12L with 14T pinion and Hobbywing 120HV.

Thanks again guys.
