I manage some build time yesterday evening after a nice day at the field. I hooked up the CGY750 and did an initial setup of the servos.  Got everything moving the right direction.

E7 Questions...

This is my first with a helical gear.  How much lash should I have?

Also I noted a light tap when I spool it up without blades.  Looks like the main gear has just a little runout and the sound coincides with this up and down motion of the main gear.  Should I be concerned?

Has anyone used the belt available from fblrotors?  Ralph sent me one of these and I had to remove it.  It's just a tad wider than the stock belt.  It barely would fit into the tail drive gear.  When I manually spun the head I noticed a biding in gear at certain spots along the belt.  The belt appears to be just a bit wider in some spots.  That combined with the already tight fit caused some binding.  I tried running it without blades this was for a couple of minutes to see if it would free up.  That did not work.  I did give the belt a good spraying with silicone before installing.  I replaced it with the stock belt and that fixed it.  Just wondered if anyone had used it extensively.

Hello All.  Got back yesterday from vacation.  Also took today off.  The E7 was technically finished just before I left. 
I took along some videos, CGY750 info, Etc on Vacation.  Reviewed Bobby Watts video on the CGY750.  Very helpful!
As a result I decided to go back through everything today including the CGY750 setup.  I had not set up a non heading hold mode switch on the gyro menu on my 8FG.  It appears this can be helpful on the first flight?? (opinions...)

Any way a rechecked things, cleaned up the wiring a bit and built the second battery pack.  I hope to get the maiden in tomorrow after work. 

I will say that setting up a CGY750 with a Futaba radio is a joy!

Well I must have been standing to the left of the guy wearing the I'M WITH STUPID --->  T-shirt today :-(
I ran by the field to give the E7 a quick flight. Didn't have too much time to do so. I evidently changed my tail gyro direction at some point yesterday while fiddling with the CGY750.  And did I bother to. Check it today...NO
Well at least I only ate up a set of tail blades.  Fortunately I did have a spare set at home. Will try again in the am before work.
