Servo selection

Greetings!

Long time lurker, first time poster.  Been out of helis for a little over a year and diving back with a new E7.  Very excited to get this bird in the air, as I loved my N9 I had several years ago.

Anyway, I have decided that I am going to try the high voltage, direct 2S lipo setup for my flight electronics.  But the direct servo to swash is throwing me a tad bit with servo selection.  I want to make sure I am doing it right.  I am die hard Futaba guy (over 25 years) so my servos will be Futaba - no getting around that LOL!!  I wil also be using the CGY750. 

I have always chosen servos based on torque, more so than speed.  Speed means nothing if the servo doesnt have the power to move.  So, with the direct servo to swash linkage, are the new BLS255HV adequate for this control layout, or would a BLS156HV be more suitable.  I realize the BLS255 is "heli" specific, but I am concerned (and possibly unrightly so) about the torque rating of the BLS255 for a direct servo to swash control system- as the BLS156 has 1.5 times the torque of the BLS255.

I appreciate any insight from those of you with experience.  Thanks!

I run BLS 253/ 251 in all of my set-ups and am very happy. I have flown the heli with 255hv/256hv and it does feel a little more "crisp" not to mention they are more efficient. I personally won't be swapping all my equipment out for the high voltage setup, but if you have the funds for it, I would go for it!

 I you have the funds for it go with the 255HV/256HV's, but your Heli will perform just fine with  BLS253's /BLS251's.

I run 451-251 on both my E6 and E7. These are great for 3D and very efficient. No slop either after hundreds of flights.
If I was going HV, I'd buy the 157-256 combo. Gobs of torque on the 157's.

I have JR8917HV cyclics on my E7, they are nice and quick, but I can't tell any real difference with my BLS451/251 combos on my other big helis.

I will probably skip HV in the future. It's over kill for my skill/flight style.

I have the outrage BLS HV servos in my E7 and the BLS351 futabas in my N5C and I prefer the futaba servos. Smoother, slop free, quieter and note efficient.

Hi Steve,

I'm currently running the Futaba BLS451 on Cyclics and a BLS251 on the tail on my N5's and E7, i have found them to be a very efficient set of servos with plenty of torque and speed.
