Optimal size batteries for 12S (not stretched)
« on: November 23, 2012, 01:19:23 PM »
I posted this question on http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?p=4472260#post4472260, but this forum seems better suited for the E5.

I want to run the E5 on 12S configuration using the 556mm blades and KDE 530Kv motor.  I am not planning on stretching to 600 size.

What size batteries would be optimal for the E5 on 12S?  2x 2700mah, 2x 3000mah, or 2x 3300 mah? What flight time at what head speed can I expect from the "optimal" size batteries?

I'd say to stay around 800-850gr for a 12s pack. 800 gr is a big 65c 6s 5000 pack.
So a 12s 2500-2700 would be good. Flying time will vary according to your style.

I fly another machine on 12s with Rail 556mm mains and a Pyro 650-62. AUW is 3.1Kg with 12s 2700mAh (860g). I've also tried 3000mAh (940g) and 3300mAh (1000g). I'd say it flies best with the 2700's. The 3000's are OK but with the 3300's it really feels like its losing hang time.

Do we know what the weight of the E5 airframe is yet?
