Jr 8717hv Alignment Problems

I am having problems with my rudder servo being the same distance away from the swash as the aileron and pitch servo. Therefore it is causing my servo to swash link not to line up the same as the others. I need to be out further away from the swash to make them all the same. I have used the shims supplied with the servo on the rudder to get it out some, but it still need like 1/4" to get it to match. There is no way the design of the helicopter is this bad. Especially considering if all the servos are mounted the exact same way it is worse than shimming one of the servos. Please help  .

I will be happy to help as I am running 8717 on both my E5 and E7 with no issues.  I don't quite understand your problem.  I assume you are talking about your collective servos aileron and elevator.  Please post a picture or clarify your description of the problem I'll be happy to help.

Rich, I'm pretty sure he is referring to his elevator servo being closer to the swash than the pitch and aileron servos. But some thing is clearly not right, as there should be no way it's 1/4 inch off.

I agree on both counts.  I wonder if he has the ball on the wrong side of the horn, or maybe didn't use the servo grommets.  I hope he sends a photo that will be the quickest way to figure it out I think.

We spoke over FaceTime last night. It is uncanny. The ball is on the right side. It's like one servo is taller than the rest??

I was stumped.

Did you enlarge the holes in your carbon fiber servo arms to 10mm so that they would fit on the back of the JR servo horns or did you simply attach them to the front of your servo horn?  If you attached them to the front of the horn they must be moved to the rear, this would explain the 1/4 inch problem you described. One other thought, assuming your CF servo arms are attached to the back of the horn (closest to the servo) are the bolt heads on the front of the horn or the rear?  The manual shows them on the rear but, with JR servos they must be on the front and the nuts must be on the back (closest to the servo). The bolt heads will prevent the horn from seating completely on the servo and if forced on will rub the area around the servo output shaft.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I got it figured out. I had to shim the elevator servo to bring it out to match the other two servos. I then reemed out my carbon fiber servo horn so I could mount it on the back of the circular servo horn. These two things made the angle almost if not perfect to the other two. Now I am going to purchase some 2.5 x 12mm screws to make sure it has a good grip with the mounting plate. Thank you for being so responsive in regards to helping me with this. I felt bad that I didn't get pics up, but was steadily working on it to see if the changes made a difference.
