E5 and Eflite Motor
« on: January 18, 2013, 06:12:30 PM »
All,

Just posting this for reference, but the E Flite Heli 600 - 1100 KV Motor will not fit the Synergy Frames.   The outside diameter is 52.0 mm.    Off to order something that will fit.

Lol, what?  I'm sorta of joking here but that would be like putting a Nissan engine inside a Porsche. It would work but not really the best.

Well my 6s E5 has an Align motor (and servos) for the time being. I wanted to prove to myself that the guts of a TRex 550 would work fine in the E5. That is the question I have have been asked at a couple of events in regards to the E5.  Some folks that are flying the Align want to move to a Synergy at minimal expense.
I haven't flown that one yet. Still doing the build. The only issue thus far was the need for a longer shaft on the 600mx motor. The longer shaft is available and was easy to change out.  This will be an E5 on a budget so to speak. It will eventually have a scorpion and better servos of course. This is more of an experiment.

Cheers
Alan

I almost used Align servos so I don't think that is as far fetched. But I have read about too many people in the Blade forums that had motors die.  Just too risky for me.  All motors can die but I just don't want to take a chance with that happening to my Heli.  Supposedly Blade is making new motors and blades that will be really nice and I may try it in a blade helicopter, but I like using items that the creator had in mind when the product was designed which is why I've chosen the equipment I have.  It's my first big Heli so I didn't take any risks.

That is much the same reason I wanted to try the Eflite motor.  I wanted to see how it ran in the E5.  I find it is better to try out first hand to see how it performs.  But alas we will never know, so I will be going with. scorpion motor

Blade is about to do some new stuff, it will be interesting to see what they are doing.  Sometimes I feel t is better to have a pro build the kit then me.  I have done a few now so ice learned a lot but when things happen I wonder if it is my fault.

I bought an E-flite 450 3600kv motor for my 450X when the stock motor wore out.  I also got a Scorpion 2221-6 in a trade, later.  The E-flite motor was a quality motor and compares really well with the Scorpion 2221-8.  I don't have any experience with the larger ones but I definitely wouldn't just discount them as junk because they are way different motors than the ones that Blade sticks in their RTF and BNF helicopters.

So the new motors they are releasing might be pretty good then?  Nice to know.  Guess that is enough blade chatter on this forum lol.

I have posted this a couple of times but, it doesn't seem to stick.  It doesn't matter what name is on the label it's quality, service and support that count.

I just have mixed feelings with Blade.  I think my 300x is excellent, and like the nano.  The 130x has been the stir of debate for lots of people.  Some days I love it, some I don't.  I have had good success with the service HH provides, but the QC on this particular helicopter is not the greatest.  I hate to say it, but it has been down more times then some of the walkeras I had.  For me it has to be consistent quality.

Case in point, just flew almost one full battery on the 130x, went into an uncontrolled piro and I brought it down kind of safely.  But the brand new elevator servo is now missing the top portion so it is down again...and the reason I keep thinking about selling it.
