I will be running 606/96 blades on E5/s with 4.5:1 tail ratio.  I plan to govern HS with VBar governor at 2,150-2,200rpm.  I am using the 16mm tail servo arm recommended in the manual.

The E5 tail shaft is long enough to accommodate higher than VBar 100/100 tail values without binding.  What VBar tail travel numbers are other VBar pilots using?  100/100?  106/106?  110/110?

I believe mine are at 112 /112.  I believe VBar recommends settings between 110 - 120 assuming we are talking about the servo travel in the setup section.

Yes, we are talking about the tail servo travel in the VStabi Setup>>Tail tab section.

I remember Chris Sexton recommending on another thread to not use all the tail mechanical travel.  I believe he recommended leaving a substantial gap between the tail slider and the left/right extremes.

My setup will tolerate 112/112 without binding.  I am just wondering what others have found to be optimal VBar tail travel numbers.   Thanks.

You should use all of the mechanical travel on the E5.  The belt driven E7 and N5C should not use all of the available travel.  Hope this helps.

Got it.  Use all the mechanical tail travel on the E5, so around 112/112.

Just out of curiosity, why limit mechanical tail travels for belted tails?

The exposed tail output shaft was longer (toward the inside) on the belt driven models and if you were to use full throw to the inside you could stall the tail blades and cause the belt to skip teeth.

Aye rich is right. My comments about the tail travel and gap were helping a fellow synergy pilot with a belted tail.

I ended up using 110/110 on the tail.  I left about 1.5mm gap on either extreme.

How about the Yaw Rate?  I understand that "100" on the VBar is about 360°/sec.  The slider goes up to 121, but Rainer said that one can type as high as "256".  I am shooting for 600°/sec max, but the VBar numbers are dimensionless.

What Yaw Rate numbers are you guys using?  What sort of rate in °/sec would that equate?

I run my tail at 90 on yaw, and it spins plenty fast. But I am not doing smack either.  If you want higher than 100, just type the number yourself :) just make sure you press enter to transmit the setting to the vbar.
