Canopy rubbing on main gear
«
on:

I am just finishing up my first build on the E5.
Messing with the canopy I noticed the main gear rubbing on the canopy.
I enlarged the canopy holes large enough to get the grommets installed and the male mounts fit snug.
What is the fix for this?
Thanks

U can do couple diffrent ways. Washers on the mounts going to the frame or putting the canopy on and find something to push the canopy out and let it set for a day or two and see if that helps. I've done it both ways before.

You can gently heat the inside of the canopy with a hair dryer or heat gun and slightly bow the canopy outwards where needed. I have done this several times.
Hold it in place until it cools.
Be gentle with the heat so you don't ruin the paint of course.

Yeah. I really like Fusuno canopies but I do find that I have to do this with them frequently. Not often with the stock Synergy canopies.

Minor fix.
I used 5mm /1/4"wood doll rod.
Installed the canopy and wedged the doll rod between the main gear and the canopy. Applied some heat, let cool and the doll rods almost fall out. Perfect and simple.
Thanks

I used a piece of rolled foam rubber between main gear and canopy. I put it in the evening and removed the day after. No heat.

On my first E5, I Dremeled the canopy a bit to have adequate clearance with the main gear.
On my second E5, I used a long Quick UK magnetic stud (the one for the T-Rex 700E) on the front, and it provides adequate clearance.
