So I switched everything over from Spektrum to JR receivers (DMSS).  Having tons of trouble trying to get things right on a new helicopter with ikon, but thats for a different topic area. The main issue is with my E5.
I have things plugged in correctly, servos move as they should (just have to reverse a couple in the transmitter)  But before I could plug into the computer I smelt something after 30 seconds or so and unplugged.  Noticed one of the bec wires wasn't plugged in so did that and thought I was set.  Plugged in and then saw a very small amount of smoke from the esc/bec wire so unplugged.  Could someone please help me before I burn my E5 up?  I hate this is happening because I have an entire weekend of flying with the wife out of town but I can't even get one helicopter to function. 
There are two BEC wires, where should they go on JRs 1131 DMSS receiver?  Right now I had them plugged into two auxiliary ports.

Are you saying the power cable running from your RX pack to the FBL unit started smoking?

If so, that sounds like a bad solder joint and heat generated from current through that bad joint melting the shielding.

Get a new cable, or cut out the bad area and resolder.

Crap, I had Rich do the soldering because there were issues trying to get things soldered with the bec and PRC6 cables.  I am just having horrible day of set ups.  6 hours working on the new helicopter and still can't get things right with the ikon and JR receiver.  NOw I can't fly the E5 because of a messed up solder.  Sorry to sound negative, but I feel way worse then what I am typing so I don't sound as negative as I actually feel.

It may not be a bad solder joint, I can't see it but usually when you have a melted rx power lead it's from high resistance.  Could have been damaged in a crash, or pulled on hard by mistake. Lots of reasons other than bad solder.

so what can be done to fix it?  I am so friedn after 5 hours of failed setup time I can't even think straight anymore.  All helis are down simply because I changed receivers.  SHould have stuck with DSMX.  I did have a hard landing that caused one side of the landing gear to split, but then powered up and flew again without any issues.  So i don't know how I can have a bad wire now.  Nothing to do with how it is plugged into the receiver?  I'm taking a break, just not in a good mood right now.

Chris, there is no soldier joint on the plug that connects to the receiver from the ESC.

The pictures he sent me were of the solder joint were you tied the BEC into his battery wires on the ESC. The pictures didn't show any signs of melted insulation, but he said smoke came out from there. I advised he pull the insulation and check the solder joint.

There is "zero" chance that soldier connection is bad!  I would look for missing insulation further down on the wire.  The problem started when the receiver was changed, it seems to me the logical course would be disconnect the receiver completely, reconnect the battery and see if there is still smoke.  If no smoke exists reconnect one component at a time.  Look for a bent pin on the receiver and check for cross connected wires.  Since the Castle BEC has two power output wires check to see if one of them was connected upside down (cross polarity).  As a safety reminder you should remove both the Main and Tail blades before proceeding.

I bet this is the issue!  I was already tired after working on the other set up for a few hours that I started plugging in the E5 to the new receiver.  Then saw the smoke.  I will unplug everything, then connect the batter to see what happens.  After that, i will plug in one component at a time.  I bet what I did is something dumb with the bec wires.  so here is the thing though.  On all of the other connections the black wire is facing me, as in the same side as the label.  These two BEC wires only have a black and a red wire.  So should that be reversed?  Like I said, I had everything plugged in from the old receiver to the RG1131, but had to unplug everything to bind and forgot all of the connections a day later.

Alright, so I unplugged all connections to the receiver, then plugged in a battery (outside in case of fire  :o ) and no smoke, no weird smells or anything.
So, just to be absolutely care, should I plug in the throttle next and check that, then everything else or should I do each individual plug?  I am pretty sure I did something wrong when I plugged up the bec.  So for the JR 1131B, which channels should the BEC go into and with the two wires type plugs, should it still be the black is on the outside?  Guess the two plugs mean it is missing a signal wire and I would plug in as normal.  But to be safe, where should I plug the bec in on this 11 channel receiver?
