Synergy E5.
« on: August 13, 2013, 07:14:07 AM »
Hi Guys,
Just need a little help in regards to the ratios for my new e5.
I want to run it stock on 6s with a headspeed of 2250 ish.

And would like to know the size mains i should be using and tails aswell as the gear ratios including the gears and the amount of teeth they should have.

Any help would be appreciated.

Look forward to your comments,

:)

Since you say stock on 6S, I assume you intend to run as a 550.  The standard setup is an 1100kv motor and for your headspeed a 12T pinion is appropriate.  This is the smaller of the two pinions included in the kit.

Rail 556 mains and 96 tails are what you need.  The tail should be fine with the stock tail gears unless you are really pushing it.  Upgrading to the 4.5:1 tail ratio is an option if you choose.  This will require the 54T and 12T spur gears.

After talking with few people I'm going to run 6s to a Vertigo with 12T pinion and Edge 120 & CC BEC Pro Vs. The Scorpion motor & ESC. Castle seemed to be the best setup for 6s with a bit more power and cooler operating temps also able to data log.

Absolutely. I run the Scorpion Motor/Castle ESC/12 tooth pinion and when everything comes down it's all just a nice slightly more than room temp warm.

I'm running the Vertigo motor with a Scorpion 130A ESC, which I like okay but would rather have one that has logging, like the CC.

Hey hey Kevin ! Thanks , how is it been going ?

I was talking with Clint from CC the other day about the setup I want to do and the its the same setup that he runs on his E5 , I was going to use the CC Edge 130 but he recommended the CC Edge 120 ... my understanding is the 120 Will Data Log and the 130 will Not...

The Edge 130 data logs too.  The way I understand it, the only difference in logging between the Edge 120HV and the Edge130 is that the 120HV logs actual receiver voltage whereas the 130 logs it's own internal bec voltage whether you are using it or not.  All other parameters are the same.

Ok cool, thanks for the clearing that up. I just reread the email he recommends the 120 hv vs the 130so that you can data log the voltage from the CC BEC Pro. didn't go into any detail about why the 130 would not

I keep saying "as I understand it" because I could be wrong but that makes sense.  The non-HV Edge esc's have a built in bec whereas the HV's do not and that maybe the difference on why the receiver voltage logging is different.

I've been doing great the leg heeled up fine after the 2nd surgery. Got all the paper work with the FAA and our Flight Surgeon so I'm off the maintenance floor and back up 100% in Test Flight again.

I'm going to B'Ham today to pick up the E5 hope to have it going by the end of the weekend.

Congrats on the Robison contract , hope you get Eurocopter that will be very good for you.
