I am planning on ordering the E7SE kit.  I want to understand how to best choose between the different Rail blades (main and tail) options.  For main blades, we have the 696mm and 716mm.  For tail, we have the 106mm and 116mm.

Tail blades are a function of head speed and tail gear ratio. Stock parts include the 4.9:1 tail speed which is ideal for 2150 and under on the main head. If your head speed is 1950-2150 recommend 106. Under 1950 use 116. If you are using the slower tail gears for higher head speed then run 116 tails.

Mains are a matter of preference to me. 696 are inheritently faster on the cyclic and the 716 are more stable over all.

In my opinion of course.

OK.  So if I plan on spinning the main blades between 2,000rpm and 2,100rpm HS a good setup seems to be to use the stock 1:4.9 tail ratio, 696 main blades, and 106 tail blades.  Does this sound about right?

The E7SE manual states to use:
4.5:1 ratio for HS above 2000
4.9:1 ratio for HS below 1950

Since I plan to spin between 2000 and 2100, it seems I should use the 4.5:1 ratio.  Does the kit come with the 12T Spur Gear - Hard Coat (part 320-112H), or do I need to purchase that separately?

2100 is the high side but I run the 4.9 tail at 2050 and have tried 2100. Tail is perfect.

What I think you will find is that with the new improved main gear ratio the motor will pull harder than you think and you will turn your head speed down and love the longer flight times.

I know I did.

But to your question,  no the kit only comes with the 4.9 parts.

OK.  I'll stick with the stock 4.9:1 ratio, and use the 696/106 blades I already own.  You saved me a few bucks.   :D

By the way, is the E7SE wide enough to accommodate the KDE-700XF-495 motor which is 56mm in diameter?

Question on the skids
« Reply #9 on: August 09, 2013, 10:44:51 PM »
I have a question regarding the skids.

Without the batteries, the E5s tends to lean backwards when the skid struts are oriented forward as per the manual.  I oriented the struts backwards, and the E5s sits on the bench level without the batteries.

Do I have to worry about struts orientation on either the E5 (not the stretch) or the E7SE, if I want those helicopters sitting on the bench level (not leaning backwards) without the battery packs?

Batteries play a big part of cog in any model. Pretty common for helis to be tail heavy with no packs.

That said,  I turned the skids back on my e7se and it sits level with the blades folded and packs on the charger.

Thanks.  I'll install the skid struts backwards too.
