Has the Synergy E6/E7 been discontinued?
« on: November 05, 2013, 11:15:36 PM »
I am looking at getting a Synergy. Possibly a E6/E7 so I can choose between the two sizes. However I noticed that the E6/E7 is no longer on the website it appears to be only the E7SE. Is the E6/E7 still available or has iot been superseded by the E7SE?

Thanks
Stuart

They should be available in the forums.  You can place a WTB ad.

Hi Stuart,

The original E6/7 kit has been superseeded by the new E7SE kit due to the huge improvements made to the design. The Rotorhead, Tail assembly and main mechanics have all had atention from Matt to improve them and bring them up to date. The kit includes a new low profile head with integrated swash phasing arms, the tail rotor assembly now has a full alluminium tail pitch slider. The main transmission assembly has been improved to accomodate the latest generation of high powered motors to give even greater efficiency and power.

The E7se retains it's ability to be fully flexible in terms of configuration, with multiple pinions are available to accomodate your motor choice and it can still be downsized to E6 specification if required.

Original E6/7 kits are still available at various retailers, if you are in Europe check out Fast-Lad Performance or if you are in the US check out ExperienceRC.com. Both of these retailers have both the original E6/7 Kit and the new E7SE kit available.

The E7 is and awesome machine, you won't be dissapointed. :)

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ross

Most people wanted to stretch the E5 to 600 size, therefore Matt worked on E7 to create the E7se. Therefore yes the E6/E7 kit has been discontinued but you can still have your electric Synergy in 550, 600 or 700 size.

Thanks for the updates and detailed answers. I am in Australia and recently met Matt at Positive Pitch 2013 Fun fly I really liked the look design and overall Synergy heli Matt demonstrated..  I am relatively new to the hobby (April 2013). I am flying forward circuits, figure 8's, have just started stall turns and can hover inverted. I am flying a TREX 500 Pro DFC. I am looking to reward my flying improvement with a new heli once I can perform inverted circuits and 8's etc. I was thinking of the E7SE, but then wondered if the jump from a 500 to a 700 was a wise decision therefore was considering the E6/E7 as I thought I cold start out with a 600 config and the move to a 700 config later.
I am interested in what people think of just going straight to a 700. Maybe it will be too intimidating? Also re the previous comment of downsizing a E7SE to a 600, what would it take to do that?
Thanks Stu.

Considering you already feel comfortable doing a lot of maneuvers with the T-Rex 500, the larger size birds may be even easier to fly.  If money is no object, and your ultimate goal is to get a 700 size, it is really up to you what size bird you should get next.  Your skills are ready for it.

My advise would be to get the biggest heli you can afford to crash. I don't think you can go wrong with either an E5 or E7 honestly. I own them both and I think I have more flights on my E5 to be honest. Lately thought my N5c has been my go to heli. As far as intimidation factor, the E5 is a lot less intimidating.

Hi,

The E5 may be worth considering also, the standard kit comes as a 550 class configuration but does have some great flexibility for configuration options and it can be stretched using the E5S stretch components to stretch the E5 to a 600 class machine.

305-600 - E5S Stretch 715 Boom
305-601 - E5S Stretch 715 Torque Tube
305-602 - E5S Stretch 640 Tail Control Rod

If you wish to downsize your E7SE to an E6 specification then this could be achieved with E6 components as follows:
310-144 - 4mm Blade Bolt Adapters
100-435A - 4mm x 35mm Blade Bolts
320-501 - E6 Torque Tube
615-117 - 520mm Boom Support Rod (E6)
615-111 - 695mm Tail Control Rod (E6)
615-140 - E6 Boom

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ross

I have not finished building my E7SE.   My currently flight-ready 700 size is the Whiplash.  The T-Rex 550 and the Synergy E5 are my go to helis.  I warm up with the T550, but do the rest of the flights with the E5.  My E5s is more powerful, but it takes a little longer to get both flight LiPos connected.   I like the simplicity of the E5 with a single LiPo pack.

Between the T-Rex 550 and the E5, you don't need to have much skills to appreciate which one is better quality.  Same for the T600Pro and the E5s.

The E5s is the largest heli I can fit in my Seqouia without bringing the middle row seats down.

I went from micro to 600 then to 700.  I can assure you the 700 is much easier to see and my opinion is jump to the 700 its more stable, better flight characteristics, much easier to land, if you can fly figure 8's you can fly a 700 no prob.

With Synergy the helis are very easy to setup and maintain, you will skip past mechanical failures and go straight to enjoying the hobby.

This is my opinion and should be taken as such.

Thanks guys. I think I will go for the E7SE... May even consider upgrading my Align TREX 500 to an E5 before I do that.
