Going to give night flying a shot
« on: November 02, 2013, 08:01:37 PM »
I picked up a barely used set of 690mm Night Magic blades.  I've been wanting to try night flying and with the shorter days, now, I should have a lot of hours of darkness to try them... LOL.

Nice!  I love the Night Magic blades.  Post up some pics when you get them going. 8)

The MNB's are awesome.  I have a set of 600's (Orange and Blue-Go Gators!).

Cheers

Yeah, I'm really excited. I had decided that I was probably just going to make a set of blades even though I really wanted some NM blades.  I didn't think it would be a good idea to spend that much considering my tendency to destroy blades so quickly. ;D

Received the blades I bought and they look brand new, I'm pretty excited.  I ordered a bunch of LED strips, wire, connectors, and a couple 3S lipos to run them all.  I bought several colors of LEDs so I can try some different things.  I'm kind of taking my time because I'm still waiting for my ESC to come back from Scorpion.  I sent it to them over two months ago because the opto port wasn't working and it's still not back. :(  Oh well, weather has gone to crap now so there's no real hurry, anyway.

Keep in mind we have the New Night Magic Blades coming out. Multiple Colors. I should have the first fully functional set by mid December. More Details to follow.

I figured that a set using RGB LEDs couldn't be too far out.

We were manufacturing LEDs for a while, in our wafer FABs, and had a big R&D group working on consumer LED products, as well.  A couple of my friends were working on different things and they had a desk toy that kind of looked like a metronome with LEDs that you could program, similar to the NM blades, except it used RGB LEDs.  A couple of us were going to build some RGB blades because we had the hardware and software to do it and the basic LED blades are really simple to do.  Adding all the stuff you need for a DIY RGB blade external to the blade gets real ugly, real fast, though.

It will be pretty cool to see these new NM blades, for sure.

Yeha they are going to be Bad Ass.. Been working on this for about 1.5 years, that's when I had the Blue and Orange ones done and wanted ones that had multiple colors, that isn't a problem, the software was the issue, it is being taken care of as we speak.. I will keep you all posted..

Night magic blades are great, but they were too much for me, I wanted to look at my designs instead of concentration on my flying and almost crashed a few times. Sold them to a friend who loves them. I still fly night and love to do it, only I fly with the regular dull night blades.
