Changing N5c gear ratio
« on: February 07, 2014, 05:50:39 PM »
Anyone have a way to do this, short of a custom machined pinion?

I really want to try the gt15hz-600 in the N5c, but the gear ratio makes it prohibitive.

I know there are other obstacles with this motor in the N5c, but the gearing is the most glaring.

N7 or N9 parts?

I have parts for all the above and I just don't see a practical way to use N9 or N7 parts.  The N9 pinion will not work with the N5C main gear. The N7 Pinion will only work with the N7 main gear and it's way too large to fit into an N5C.
Short creating a real frankenheli I would say no.  If you are a machinist and engineer you might pull it off.  Custom might be the way to go..

Cheers
