Fuel Tank Stopper Grommet
« on: April 11, 2014, 04:03:25 PM »
Hey guys,

After performing some last minute checks on my N7, I decided to swap out the metal clunk with a Lynx Moas filter. During the process of removing the clunk line, I ended up tearing the fuel tank stopper.

Unfortunately I cannot locate one at my local hobby stores and was really hoping to get a maiden in this Sunday.

Does anyone know if any other brands would work?

I believe one of the team guys used an Align 700N grommet with success in a pinch if you have one of those laying around.

Thanks Kinger!  I may have a 700N grommet kicking around.

Thanks for the follow up Big B.

I installed a new grommet a couple days so I'm all good there.

I attempted a maiden yesterday and ran into issues with the one way bearing so I will need to address this before getting this bird in the air.

fyi. I'm using a dynatron starter with sullivan one way shaft.

I have read a couple posts with a similar problems.  I'm not sure whether it's the OWB in the starter shaft or in the clutch.  My starter shaft works with my 700n with os91hz without issue.

Seems everyone recommends some light oil on the bearing. You could chuck your 6mm start shaft in a drill. That might tell you if it's the one-way on your starter? Just a thought. Hope it works out for you.

Well the issue seems to be the clutch one way bearing.

I dug up my old starter which uses a standard shaft inside the rubber cup and the OWB is still slipping and screeching.

Hopefully I'll get some time tomorrow to drop the motor, inspect, degrease and oil the bearing.

I gotta get this bird in the air!

Thanks Big B!

Here is a thought make sure the set screws are tight on the flat spot of the hex start adapter on the heli.

Chapawolf,

Set screws are tight and against the flat spots on the hex start adapter.

I did get some time to drop the motor, degrease and apply triflow.  OWB is now engaging better but I'm still hearing the occasional screech.  I'm hoping that will disappear all together.  Looking like another maiden attempt this weekend.

I will probably order a spare OWB just in case.

Thanks everyone for your help!
