Flight times and configurations
« on: November 03, 2011, 07:34:46 PM »
I'm really curious about flight times.  Considering that this machine is configurable as 600 and 700 within the same box, I'm going to try out both configurations with the same power system.  My setup is below...

Xera 4530-500
Ice 120HV
2x TP 6S 4400 65C

Now I know that the E7 is an extremely light machine (got to fly one the other day) and so I really want to know what kind of flight times I can hope to get.  If I can push 6+ minutes in the E6 configuration, then I'll be a very happy camper. But if I could approach 5 minutes in the E7, I will be equally as happy.

So tell me, what is your setup and flight times?
E6 or E7
Motor (please note kv please)
Pinion
Headspeed
ESC
Batteries (10S or 12S and capacity)
Blades
% put back into packs
Flying style
Flight times

Very curious to see what people write for this.

On my E7 I'm running 14tooth pinion, Kontronik 80HV, Pyro 450kv motor, at 2100 RPM on Hyperions 4500 12S batteries, BLS servos all around and V-Bar 5.2 FBL system, Rail 696 mains and Rail 106 tails. I get around 6 1/2 minutes of big air sports flying
On My E6 I'm running 14 tooth pinion, Kontronik 80HV, Hacker Turnado 470kv motor at 2300 on Gens Ace 4000 12s batteries, again BLS servos all around and also V-Bar 5.2 FBLsystem, Rail 606 mains and Rail 96 tails. I get around 6 minutes of the same type of flying.

I have the exact same E6 setup as above but I fly a bit more aggressively.  Using 75% capacity, I get 4.5 min with 4000 packs and 4 min with 3300 packs.

On my E7 I am running a Kontronik pyro 700-45L motor with 13T pinion, Jive 80HV, BlS 253 cyclic and BLS 251 tail. Head speed is governed at 2150. I use Thunder Power 65c 5000mah 12s packs and I am getting 6 minutes of "hard" 3D.

On my E6 I run a hacker A50-12L 470kv motor, cc ice2 120, western robotics bec, BLS 451 cyclic and BLS 251 tail. I have Thunder Power 65C 3850mah 12s packs for the heli. I haven't tested it yet since I am still waiting on my ESC and motor, but I expect to get about the same flight time.

For me, i have:

CGY750 and BLS256HV on tail
Hacker 470 and Castle Creations 120.
For cyclic, i have Align 610 and this servo work very well but maybe i buy Futaba BLS157HV.
Also i install Castle Creations BEC at 6S.

Pinion 14T
Head Speed: Normal: 2000, idle up 1:2100, idle up 2:2150. But i think to make test at 2200.
Main blade : Rail 696
Tail Blade : Rail 106

Flight time : 6 min with Hyperion 12S 4500 Lipo.
Final Voltage: 3.75 v / cell.

THAT is what I want to hear.  How hard are you flying it?  What pinion?

4cyclic has been flying for 30 years, he pushes his helis very close to what Matt Botos does.

flying as hard as I can  on 12t pinion  :)
Xera 4530 is more a 520kv than 500kv. So 12t is great for 2150  target hs.

Love that motor. So smooth and torquy.
Getting 5 minutes, but on older Hyp 12s 4500 with 175 cycles.

Probably could squeeze another 15-20 sec on new packs.

I haven't fully broken in my TP 65c 5000 packs yet, but looking for 6 min.

4cyclic, what ESC are you running?  Have you flown it on 14T or 15T?  (guess I'm going to have to purchase some pinions).

Jive 120HV, and yes I have flown it on 14t pinion.

Flys fine on 50-55% throttle. Had no cut-outs.
