New build bearings

Hey all. I'm quite new to the synergy family, buying my first E7 about 6 months ago 2nd hand.

But I'm proud to say I'm now an owner of a brand new N7. This is my first ever build of a heli, and first nitro I might add. I tend to know my way around helis pretty well so I don't think I'll have much trouble with all the support that's out there, but one small concern I have is the bearings in the kit. I'm unsure whether I need to grease them up or give them and oil or am I pretty well wasting my time as it has already been done by the manufacturer??

Hello and welcome to the Synergy forum!

The answer your looking for is fairly straight forward.  All of the radial bearings are already greased and ready to go.  The Thrust Bearings in the heads will need lubricated and all parts of the head loctited.

I like to put a little light oil on all the OWBs but it doesn't take much.

Just to echo what Chris has said really, all the bearings are greased and ready to go from the bearing manufacturers with the exception of the thrust bearings which will require greasing. An exceptional grease for this is the Boto-Lube Extreme Pressure Grease: http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=29&products_id=1829

I also like to clean out the one-way bearing in the auto hub assembly and relube with a light oil such as Tri-Flow, this helps the auto hub assembly if you live in an area which is susceptible to cold weather conditions.

Thanks heaps for that guys.

But just to clarify.. I don't need to take the head apart at all?

I may still just put a bit on the trust bearing since they aren't sealed really.
Also does that rule apply for the tail box?? As it is all assembled aswell.

Hi Kurt,

All the pre-assembled items are dry assembled only, no grease or loctite has been used so it is necessary to disassemble the head and tail assemblies to check the assembly and also lubricate the thrust bearings then reassemble using loctite where required.

I also like to use a cleaning solvent or degreaser to remove any leftover machineing oil from the internal threaded section of the spindle and bolts or any other areas to be loctited.

I would recommend investing in a spindle locking tool if you don't ready have one.

Ah I'm sorry. This was my mistake. I miss read the first reply and thought it said that the head 'had' been greased and loctited. But all is good. Will go through it all and sort it out.
