YS 60sr for N5c?

I am in the process of searching for an engine for my N5c. I have found a used YS 60sr setup for a reasonable price. I have been reading a lot of posts about people having tuning issues with the YS 60 and blowing pistons. Would the YS 60 be a bad choice for a reliable easy to tune setup? I have been looking for a decently priced OS 55HZ-r but have not been able to find anything yet.

I have never owned a ys60, or an os 55, but from what I hear, the ys 60 is harder to tune. I have several friends who have had them, and they say the ys motors in general are harder to tune. Funny you asked this, I just had this conversation with a few of my friends the other day.

Hi,

The simplicity and reliability of the OS 55 HZ series of engine (Standard HZ and HZ-R) is very good and i have had nothing but good results from these engines.

I can't personally comment on the YS 60SR but from experience of others use of the engine it is a reliable engine when tuned but it is a little bit more tricky to get tuned properly so experience of YS tuning is an advantage.

I have owned all of the above.  OS50, OS55HZ and HZ-R, YS56 and YS60.  The YS60 was hands down the roughest to tune.  After blowing it up twice in one season I went with the OS55HZ-R and i have had no issues.  Tuning is tuning and if you can get the YS60SR tuned it pulls HARD, but I think the OS55 is the better all around engine.

A lot of personal bias there of course, but just my findings.

I just picked up a brand new OS 55hz and a Power Boost II pipe on the Heliproz 50% off sale!! I'm now a happy camper. The N5c should be up and flying by early next week  :D

The 55 has been great as well as the heli. I'm working on getting everything dialed in. I'm very happy with the decision to build a nitro.
