The manual recommends 96-106 with the 4.9 gear ratio. Also with 716s you would have some overlap with the possibility of the mains and tails touching. I think you may have some thing else going on. Are you getting full travel on your tail? Have you adjusted gyro gain? How much overall pitch do you have on the main blades?

eh... on my x3 using boto lube on TT gears was kinda messy, but spending 18£ for a 20ml of dry lube, seems a bit overboard for me, i tried a bit of triflow... next outing on a cold morning, big vibration on tail... after a bit, vibration disappears... i assume it was triflow getting hard in cold morning... eh... on a side note... just ordered rail tail blades, tomorrow im ordering helix main blades... and for last 3 days i'm banging my head on the wall between getting another set of batteries, or snagging a second hand "only 5" flights old os90-3d speed+exaust for 225£.... haha since i FINALLY am allowed to fly in my club field.... maybe an n7 as summer-autumn project? or avant mostro nitro... somehow gaui nx7 doesn't appeal to me...

so! unpacked my new helix 715 blades! WOW! swept tip looks cool! :) they are so much sharper and thinner than spin blades! and lighter! i guess this was my last set of spin blades! never again lol! had one flight only so far but wow! :) quieter... lighter feeling... and seemed like i have faster flip and roll rate, and harder cyclic stops! returned to boto lube instead of triflow, and vibration on spoolup was gone! :)

now to get spartan data pod so i can properly tune my eSpirit....

when i came home, i noticed that i have some up-down play in my blade grips... :( not left-right but up-down.... should i dissasemble and add a shim or 2?

so... im still living off 1 set of batteries... :( and beating my head on elevator bobble...

lately I started thinking... for a while already I WANT (not need but want! :) ) 800 heli... if not for the batterie cost, I would already have started buying components....

currently on synergy im running scorpion 4530-500kv motor, cc edge 160hv esc and 12s... as per Mr Mel headspeed calculator, my max headspeed should be a tad under 1900... im running 1950 and honestly, so far I don't see a need to go higher...

mr mel calculator says, that on 14s headspeed should be around 2200.... so... here comes my idea...

is it possible to run 14s 5000mah batteries on scorpion 4530-500kv and cc160 edge esc with stock pinion?(was it 12t?)
and how about doing it on 12s ESC settings? basically to run 12s4400 for 1950hs, and than just to plug in 14s5000 for 2200hs?   if it works on 12s to 6s, would it work for 12s-14s?

I don't believe the Castle EDGE 160HV is made to handle more than 12S

CC 160HV is only good for 12S, that is correct.
