Upper Pinch Collar on Main Shaft

I was showing off my N5c to a buddy and he moved the main shaft up and down --- wow!!!   We looked and the head was gone for the M2-10 bolt through the pinch collar.

When building I was not sure about using loctite, since it not in the instructions, so I just made sure it was tight (it is not a shouldered bolt).     

My concern was that if it got loose, the main shaft can move up and down about an inch.   

Should I have used threadlock and made sure the bolt was just firm?

Typically loctite in pinch bolts isn't needed as the force of the pinch joint holds the bolt from turning.. That said, Loctite won't hurt.

You definitely need to get that collar tight.  But be careful it's not impossible to strip.

Thanks Chris!      I have a new collar coming tomorrow ... I figured it may be stripped, even though it seems okay.   Will use a dab of loctite and can fly again.

I've found that if I get too aggressive in tightening it I'll strip the head of the bolt out, not the threads in the collar itself.  YMMV
