Tail linkage rod Hitting!
« on: August 30, 2015, 08:13:40 AM »
Is there a fix for the tail linkage rod hitting the right fan shroud?
I am using the os55 and set the balls to what manual say!

Not sure what the veterans are doing.. But mine are per the manual as well. It does touch on peak throws a bit, but not much. I was worried about it at first, but I don't see any wear marks.  I do have an Align aluminum servo arm on it.. I'll look to see what hole/measurement I have ball positioned at.

You an also loosen the crab and twist it a bit so it will clear. Make sure your clutch alignment is correct.

How far is the ball out on the tail servo horn? At around 20mm there is no binding.
Also, make sure the ball is on the top of the tail offset bellcrank for the O.S. 55.

Hope this helps.

Is 20 mm where the ball  should be for CGY750?

I can't speak for the Futaba FBL unit.. I use iKon.. But I did check.. I'm at 18mm on the servo horn.. I misspoke in the previous post about " per manual"... I forgot that as suggested I put the ball on the bell crank at the rear of the frame on the top of the crank instead of the bottom.. This was done due interference with the regulator of my O.S.55 HZ-R. Funny, u had me wondering how much I was touching the shroud.. So I booted her up for a look.. She barely touches.. All good.. I did however notice that I need to back off the throw a small bit as I can hear it bind & make servo noise.. So thanks! Recorded it for u tho, here's a link. Hope this helps.

Around 20mm is fine for the CGY750. You need to bring the ball out. At 14mm you will experience the problems you are having with the fan shroud.

I move it out to 17 mm to far hole on the star Futaba horn and it does not hit the fan shroud. All is good now thanks for your input and help

No problem. Go through your tail setup again and check your limits... You should be good to go.
