Motor connector

Hi!

I am building an E7se and it is my first big electrical/electronic installation so I may need some help. Fot connectors from motor to esc I am thinking to use Castle 5,5mm High Current Connectors. Is that a good choice? And is there a standard as to connect male/female to motor and esc?

Hi Trond,

The Castle 5.5mm High Current Bullet Connectors are a good choice, they will take Upto 150A of current, another good choice for motor connectors are the 6mm connectors from scorpion or the 6mm bullet connectors from SupraX. Both these bullets have longer bullets and give a greater surface area, the SupraX connectors have a click 'n' Lock design which helps to keep the bullet secure and in place.

In regards to the method of installing the bullets on the motor and ESC, the industry standard is to install the male bullet on the motor and the female part of the bullet on the ESC motor connection wires.

The Castle 5.5mm connectors may be fine.  I used the larger Castle 6.5mm connectors.

EC5s here... I like the Castle Connectors... But to back up and refit all the ESCs, batteries, & the charging rig... I have to this point decided to keep the EC5s... Have had no issues with them either and I do like them.

Total brain fart.. I read it right, but somehow went to the other side of the ESC... Lol.. Yes... Castle bullets are great! On my current build I did however use the KDE connectors that came with my motor... They look like the Castle bullets tho.

Yes.  I believe those connectors that come with the KDE motors are Castle connectors.  I like those connectors for semi-permanent connections such as motor to ESC, but I prefer the springy version of the EC3 and EC5 connectors for connections that are subjected to multiple plugging and unplugging such as the ESC to battery connections.

Yes, it is the older style 5,5mm I have. To avoid any shorts I guess I will have to put heat shrinking around them?

Yes.  Heat shrink.  I also apply electrical tape on the connection where the male and female connector heat shrinks meet just in case there is any exposed metal that is not readily apparent.
