Motor Shaft Length
« on: October 01, 2015, 11:38:30 PM »
Guys and gals, I'm in the process of building my kit and I'm just wondering if this is correct - I have a hunch the shaft should be shorter. It's extending 15.4mm beyond the bearing - is this OK?

So long as the battery's fit, it ok... However.. If u crash.. That's a spear into ur pack potentially.. I cut my shaft so that it passed thru the bearing about 1-2mm.. I forgot the exact length. Use a ziplock sandwich bag to put ur motor in with the shaft poking thru the bag prior to cutting to keep debris out of ur motor.

Agreed, I would highly recommend cutting that off. In a crash you are asking for Pack damage.

I use a similar method as Clay, using a zip-lock bag to keep the shavings out of the motor magnets.
