Vibration on n5c
« on: February 22, 2016, 09:13:37 AM »
I've noticed that on my v controll radio that the vibration is extremely high which causes my rescue to go crazy.
I was wondering if anyone would give me some insight on were this is coming from and what I can do to damping it some.Keep in mind I and fairly new to nitro.i appreciate  and help on this.

you don't need to simply dampen it, you need to find the source and fix it. my n5c is very smooth.

look at the vibration analyzer and see what rpm it is coming from to help you diagnose.

could be anything from tune on the motor, to bearings going bad, to a bent head axle, main shaft, tail output shaft, anything.

What Mike said , but can you give more information ? Like is this a new (kit)  build , have you broke in the motor, how many flights, many factors are involved as Mike says and it would be very helpful to all of us to have more information if possible. We all started just like you so ask away .

Thanks,
Rick

Thanks,
I built it about two months ago and I am running the os 55hz hyper.i run the motor with two turns out on both needles for about two gallons and I have started leaning it out little out a time.I can honestly say that I'm no pro at nitro tuning but from what I can tell I'm close but still on the rich side.rhis motor was new and has probably twenty five to thirty flights.i am using the rail 606 mains and the rail 96 tails.Iput the blades on a balance beam when they were new and they seem to be spot on out of the box.
I ask alot of questions but I really love doing this and want to do it rite thanks for all ur help.

my .55HZR's needles are at the following settings - Mid 1 and High 1.75.

that is perfect for my flight style. I also opened up the idle mixture screw about 15 degrees or so to get the motor off the pipe at the end of the flight.

were you able to look at the spectrum analyzer and see the rpm of the problem?

I know I probably sound like an idiot but when u say spectrum analyzer are u talking about the v control vibration screen?
I have been watching that and I have noticed that the vibration gets a little better as I increase  the head speed.

yes. it will tell you what RPM the vibration is happening at, and the frequency (or strength) of the vibration.

so if its in the 1800-2200rpm range, I would look at the head through the main shaft.

if its 10,000 rang, the front transmission back to the tail blades.

15-20,000, the motor itself.

I have not had to use my vibration analyzer since I got my vcontrol, so I don't know how easy it is to view the rpm the vibration is at. anyone else used theirs yet? I have been lucky, mine have been in good shape the last several months.

To add to what the guys have already stated, I have seen (Blade Bolts /Tails) be adjusted to tight and cause an issue.. Make sure they aren't over torqued and most of all they appear to be evenly torqued. No when I say torque there is no set value , I nearly mean (not to tight). PM me your cell number if your within the states.. I'd be happy to walk through this with you and elaborate on what the rest of the Team is saying as well.

I searched for a vibration problem from day one from a new build on my N5C and it drove me crazy. One day, after exhausting all of my other options, I moved the location of the VBar sensor closer to the main shaft about half an inch. That is all it took. Now she is smooth as silk.  I wish I had thought of it months sooner.

now you do have to take into consideration the construction of the servo block. the very front portion of it does not have as much material under it as the middle and back portion. so yes, I very much believe that.
