Hi everyone, I have been watching fblrotors site for battery trays to show in stock. It seems they are so popular that they are never in stock lol. I did find some trays at 3Dheliupgrades.com for 18$ each. I am not sure if anyone is familiar with them so I thought I would give my opinion of them.
First they are 18$/each and come in various colors. They are 3D printed. They come with a lowered section that drops into the rear and front holes in the battery tray which stops all movement front to back. They still require a strap to hold it down so as not to lift the locks out of the tray holes. They can be ordered in 12s or 6s configurations and have spots a narrow strap can be used to secure packs to the tray. I use Velcro between the tray and the packs and two old align straps on my 12s tray that I have two separate 6s packs on.
I have put 8 flights on them this morning pushing my E5s harder than I have in the past which isn't saying much with my limited 3D skills but they held the packs in well. I tried to knock them loose with some tic tocs, piro's, flips, rolls, etc. and they stayed in place.
Ideally I would have 3 of Ralphs trays as I like the idea of ditching the straps around the main frame to hold it down and like the easy locking on his but until I can get some of his these are a good alternative. Price point, and usability would make them ideal for anyone wanting cheaper battery trays or something to carry them over until they can get Ralph's.
